Color is part of the picture. It is never the whole picture.
We breed both traditional blue/tan-trimmed Blueticks and Bluetick Blacks. The no-tan dogs are not a different goal; they are part of the same Bluegrass program and held to the same expectations for structure, intelligence and temperament.
Bluetick Blacks
At Bluegrass, “Bluetick Black” means the black-and-blue/ticked expression without tan points. No tan eyebrows, cheeks or legs—just a different expression within the Bluegrass family.
No tan. Same standard.
These dogs are bred for the same things we value everywhere else in the program: correct structure, a useful mind, a stable temperament and the ability to live closely with people.
They are represented proudly on this site because they are a real part of Bluegrass Blueticks.
